So, this is how Dipsy got her name….

She was born around 2am on 25th July 2025, picked up from the paddock and carried into the barn where she then, however hard she searched, even with the mare pouring milk from her udder all over Dipsy’s nose, could not get the idea of suckling from the udder!

As the colostrum was being lost, we milked the mare (thank you Tim) and Dipsy got the idea of that, so the bottle was then put next to the udder and milk squirted over her nose but still she didn’t get it.

It finally took ten hours for her to stop going to any part of the mare’s anatomy than the udder and latched on but then only on one side for a whole day!

She was first called a ‘dipstick’ and then Dipsy and Dipsy has stuck.

Her nature is smart, bold and clever and we feel she will make a fantastic therapy horse.

If there is any local person who would like to take her showing, we think she will do very well in the show ring, in Western  or Quarter Horse classes
